Honeymoon Tips PDF Print E-mail

Your honeymoon is not the usual trip you plan with your friends, last minute. It is your first trip together as a married couple and you want it to be as special and as memorable. Planning a good honeymoon can be time consuming and the closer you get to the wedding the less time you will have to plan it

Here are some tips that can enhance your honeymoon planning

♥ Plan your honeymoon as far in advance as possible months in advance so you can be assured of getting the best available hotel room and flight combination. Planning ahead also allows you to take your time and make informed choices without being so rushed that you settle for a destination that may not be ideal.

♥ Many couples go over budget on both the wedding and the honeymoon. To avoid not being able to enjoy the honeymoon experience you dream of, plan ahead and set aside a honeymoon budget that is enough to cover the honeymoon.

♥ Choose a destination that you are excited and interested in. Your honeymoon destination should be based on your personal tastes and lifestyle

♥ Just as the destination is important, so is the resort or hotel you choose. Think about variations such as all-inclusive, boutique, bed and breakfast or other categories such as villas. Think of the room that would most suit you such as ocean view, suite or ocean front. Consider upgraded services such as butler service, honeymoon packages etc.

♥ If you enjoy gourmet restaurants, choose a resort where you can enjoy different dining experiences. Many all inclusive resorts have many restaurants so don't be put off that you will be subjected to buffet lines and boring meal choices.

♥ Have a honeymoon consultant help you plan your honeymoon so you can show up and enjoy your time together.

♥ Make sure you have a passport if your destination requires one. Brides, please use your maiden name. You won't have time to change the name on your passport and driver's license. Use your maiden name on visas, airline tickets, etc., so they match as it appears on your official documents.

♥ No one plans on getting sick or having other problems on their honeymoon. Purchase travel protection so you can have the peace of mind to know that if something happens, you're covered.

♥ Looking chic and dressing appropriately for the location you're visiting might not be the same thing. Remember that extreme weather, hot and cold, requires different types of clothing, so pack accordingly and you won't have to buy something at an exorbitant price when you get there.

How to Pack
The secret to packing for one of the most special trips of your life lies in planning ahead. Start by listing every outfit you'd like to take, including jewelry and accessories, then eliminate the ones that don't combine with others.

Pack each outfit and its accessories in large plastic bags
♥ Include more sexy lingerie and sleep wear than usual
♥ Pack a few romantic touches - sachets, scented travel candles, a disc player with your favorite songs.
♥ Pack shoes in the bottom and fill them with small items.
♥ Roll daytime clothes when you can. Pack dressy outfits in plastic bags from the dry cleaner to keep them wrinkle free.
♥ Layer everything. Put crushable items, such as workout clothes, on the bottom and the most fragile ones on top.
♥ Fold carefully. Turn jacket sleeves inside out. Place sweaters, socks, tee shirts and smaller items between shoes.
♥ Pack all liquids in plastic bags.  Put travel sized cosmetics in plastic bags in your carryon.
♥ Pack sunglasses, medicines, your bathing suit and cover up and one change of clothes in your carry-on.
